Tribute & Message From The Family

Delois Elizabeth Alford-Spellman was born on May 17, 1948, in Bennettsville, SC to the late Vice Alford and Mary Matilda Johnson Alford. Proceeding in death, she had 6 sisters and 5 brothers. She departed this life on May 16, 2021, at Rex Hospital. She enjoyed cooking delicious dishes for everyone and spreading her love to us all.
Delois attended Short Journey School in Smithfield and furthered her career as Dietary Aide for Johnston Lee head start. In her spare time, she catered for different events and worked at the Lazy O Farm and the Pond at Lazy O Farm in Smithfield.
She joined Wesley AME Church at a very early age, and she loved her church. She was very dedicated and committed to God and Wesley Chapel where she served faithfully in many areas.
Over the years, Delois held various roles at Wesley Chapel AME Church including serving as a member of the Pastor Aide Committee, Women's Missionary Society, the Usher Board, and the Kitchen Committee. She was a lead singer of Wesley's Gospel Choir, Faithful Gospel Singers, the new Birth Choir, and the Praise Team. She also joined the J.O.C.O. Community Choir and N.C. Annual Conference Choir, Stewardess Board, Usher Board, Class Leader, and Trustee.
Delois's favorite sayings were" I got you prayed up and God's got your back" & "I love you to the moon and beyond". When anyone would say "I love you" she would respond " I love you more". The message that she wants all her friends and family to know is to "Trust in God and keep the faith, live a clean and pure life".

Mrs. Spellman was such a sweetheart, she sat next to me at dialysis and was one of the first people I met there. So kind, loving and giving, she will truly be missed. REST IN THE LORD MRS. SPELLMAN✝
